Promoting Scotland to the World Through Brand Storytelling & Digital Innovation

VisitScotland is the Scottish Government’s official national tourism organisation, responsible for showcasing Scotland’s landscapes, culture, and experiences to audiences across the globe. As part of their creative team, I contributed to several high-profile campaigns and digital projects designed to elevate Scotland’s profile as a world-class destination.

Key projects included the award-winning “Scotland is Now” campaign, which positioned Scotland as a modern, progressive, and welcoming country, and the VisitScotland 50th Anniversary celebrations. My work was displayed in major international hubs such as Heathrow Airport, reinforcing Scotland’s presence on the global stage.

My Role | Digital Designer

As a Digital Designer within VisitScotland’s creative team, I played a crucial role in delivering design assets and digital solutions across both print and digital channels. My responsibilities covered the full creative pipeline, from interpreting briefs to final production, while collaborating closely with marketing, copywriters, and the wider design team.

Key contributions included:

  • Brand-compliant graphic design — producing visuals for global campaigns including “Scotland is Now,” ensuring consistency with strict brand guidelines across all assets

  • Large-scale campaign collateral — designing digital signage, airport displays, social media graphics, and printed materials for domestic and international markets

  • VisitScotland 50th Anniversary — creating assets for the milestone campaign, highlighting the organisation’s legacy and evolving brand identity

  • Email UX and design overhaul — participating in a major user experience initiative to redesign VisitScotland’s email marketing, focusing on accessibility, mobile responsiveness, and improved engagement

  • Adobe Creative Cloud workflow — leveraging Illustrator, Photoshop, and InDesign for asset creation and layout

  • Agile project management — using JIRA to manage tasks, track progress, and collaborate with stakeholders across departments

  • Stakeholder collaboration — interpreting briefs from marketing teams and design managers, delivering work on time and aligned with strategic objectives

My designs contributed to driving brand awareness, tourism engagement, and digital innovation for one of Scotland’s most visible public organisations. Seeing my work displayed at high-profile locations like Heathrow Airport remains one of the proudest milestones of my career.
